CESN Discussion List Guidelines
The CESN discussion list provides a forum for scholars of Central Eurasia to exchange information and requests with their peers. The network is a service of the Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS), in line with CESS's overall goal of improving scholarly standards and communication in this field, and it is moderated by CESS members. Participation on the list is limited to CESS members and members of this list's predecessor, Central Asian Institutions, who were grandfathered in. If you wish to join CESS, please go to the Membership Form.
Discussion on the CESN list is moderated, meaning that your contributions will go through a human "filter" before distribution to all members of the list. This is to ensure that all discussion is relevant to the mission of CESN. Decisions about what will be posted are up to the moderator’s discretion, and the moderator may reject postings that do not fit the criteria of the list.
CESN accepts postings of the following types:
As you write to the list, consider yourself to be in a public forum where norms of scholarly discourse and collegiality should be respected. Discussion on the CESN list is in Russian and in English in order to facilitate greater access to scholarly exchange. If you write in Russian, we recommend using Latin transcription, as many list members may lack the technical capacity to read texts in Cyrillic.
Contributions which do not meet these Guidelines will not be distributed by the CESN list. These Guidelines are enforced to ensure that the CESN serves its purpose of promoting scholarly exchange in Central Eurasian studies.
