Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS)

CESS Honorary Members

The scholars listed below have been awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Central Eurasian Studies Society.  We are honored to have these important figures associated with our Society.

The CESS Executive Board selects Honorary Members who have made a substantial and important contribution to the development of some field of Central Eurasian Studies, whose legacy may include important findings, defining theories, and sustaining institutions.  CESS Honorary Members are typically in retirement and/or have an extensive career of scholarship behind them, though they typically also are such dynamic individuals that they remain engaged in scholarship, and potentially, in the life of the Society.  The Board seeks a selection of scholars who represent a variety of fields and regions of study, as well as various schools and regional traditions of scholarship.

Honorary Members enjoy free membership for life.  They are encouraged to be active participants in the life of the Society, and to apply their experience and scholarly weight toward advancing the Society's efforts to strengthen scholarship in this field.

If you would like to propose an appropriate scholar for consideration as a CESS Honorary Member, please send your suggestion, including also, if possible: a) a short description of that person's contribution to Central Eurasian scholarship, b) the person's current honorary titles and institutional affiliation, and c) contact information, including a fax number and e-mail address.  These should be sent to: Central Eurasian Studies Society <CESS(a)muohio.edu> (see Contact Information for other means of contacting CESS).
