Registration/Pre-registration Form

This form is for pre-registration for those who will NOT be presenting a paper at the conference. If you are already registered as participating in a panel or roundtable in any way, you do not need to fill out this form. If you have submitted/will submit a paper proposal or we received your complete information as part of a panel proposal, you do not need to fill out the Pre-registration Form.

• Pre-registration will ensure that a registration packet/name tag is prepared for you and you receive information about conference events.  Registration fees are also payable at the conference for attendees. See the section on Registration Fees below.

• All people interested in attending the conference are strongly encouraged to pre-pay their registration fees for the purposes of planning conference events.

• If you have been invited to serve as a panel chair or discussant, you may fill in the form below.

• If you wish to submit an individual paper, please use the "Individual Paper Proposal Submission Form" (Deadline: April 11, 2008).

• If you wish to submit a panel, please use the "Panel Proposal Submission Form" (Deadline: April 11, 2008).

Conference attendees are strongly encouraged to hold current membership in CESS (presenters are required to be members).  Conference registration fees for current CESS members are reduced. For membership, go to the  For membership, go to the Central Eurasian Studies Society Membership Form).

If you wish to attend the conference without participating in a panel (as a paper presenter or roundtable participant), you may submit the form below.

Those who submit the form and payment before the pre-registration deadline of August 15 are entitled to reduced registration fees (see schedule of fees below).

Even if you do not plan to pay the registration fee before your arrival at the conference, we encourage you to submit the form below so that we know you plan to come and can prepare a registration packet.

Please fill the form in carefully.  Please do not use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS or all small letters (e.g., "KELLY SMITH" or "kelly smith").  The institutional affiliation you indicate here will be listed in the program and on your name tag, which you will receive on registration, and which you should wear throughout the conference.  If your affiliation or your contact information changes before the conference, please be sure to notify the Conference Committee as soon as possible (if we lose contact with you and/or you fail to respond to e-mail requesting that you confirm your plan to attend, and if you have not paid the pre-registration fee, your registration may be cancelled).

Registration Fees:

All attendees are encouraged to be CESS members. The level of the conference registration fee depends on your CESS membership dues category (with some members being entitled to reduced dues -- see the CESS Membership Form for details). 

Payment of registration fees IS REQUIRED for all attending the conference, and cover a welcoming reception on Thursday and the conference dinner on Friday. For those not on the program, pre-payment of registration fees reserves a space at the conference, in the event that attendance reaches the maximum capacity. The deadline for pre-payment is August 15. Fees for 2008 are as follows:

  Regular fee members*: $75 (pre-payment) or $100 (at conference)
  Reduced fee members**: $50 (pre-payment) or $70 (at conference)
  Non-members: $100 (pre-payment) or $130 (at conference)
  Georgetown University students: $35 (pre-payment) or $45 (at conference)
  GU student CESS members: $25 (pre-payment) or $30 (at conference)

* "Regular fee members" are those who have paid their annual dues at $50.

** "Reduced fee members" are those who have current membership at reduced fees ($0-$20).

Please note that we no longer ask that you contribute an extra $3.00 for credit card processing.

You may submit the registration fee at the same time as submitting this form, or at any time before the pre-registration deadline to be entitled to the pre-registration discount, or you can register at the higher rate at the conference.  We accept payment by 1) cash (only at the conference), 2) check or money order (see the Payment by Check Form), 3) credit card (see the Credit Card Payment Form).  Payments should be mailed to: Central Eurasian Studies Society, Havighurst Center, Harrison Hall, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio 45056, U.S.A.  Please consult the CESS Membership Form for full details on methods of payment.
